“These highly anticipated event-free survival results in this TNBC population build upon earlier findings from the KEYNOTE-522 trial and further support the potential use of Keytruda in these patients,” Vicki Goodman, M.D., vice president, clinical research, Merck Research Laboratories, said in a statement. Keytruda is currently approved under accelerated approval in the United States in combination with chemotherapy for the treatment of patients with locally recurrent unresectable or metastatic TNBC whose tumors express PD-L1. The trial is continuing to allow for additional follow-up of overall survival, a key secondary endpoint. In May, Merck had announced that KEYNOTE-522 met the dual primary endpoint of pathological complete response at the first interim analysis. No new safety concerns were seen in this fourth interim analysis. This is the first time an anti-PD-1/L1 therapy has demonstrated a statistically significant event-free survival result. Seven paragraphs into the introduction, Schwartz recalls his first vehicle: But before he gets to detailing valid arguments about mobility and the impact of driverless vehicles on the urban environment, Schwartz must first establish that cars have made him feel. The best of these offerings is No One at the Wheel: Driverless Cars and the Road of the Future (2018) by Samuel I. In many, though not all, of these initial offerings, a ghostwriter helped some transportation official from the public or private sector condense their career into zippy, pun-filled prose. The first wave of AV books was published from roughly 2016 through the first half of 2019. Their sentiments mirror my own, which have calcified into three words after immersing myself in this lavishly funded, hilariously inept enterprise for a few years: it ain’t working. New voices in and around AV are now working to deflate the sector’s nonetheless buoyant optimism. For years, there’s been a horse-race mentality to AV discussions: Who will be first to market? In 2020, the gossip has begun to invert: Who will be the first to collapse? The looming Covid-19-induced economic collapse will bankrupt some AV companies. Already shaky business plans for robotaxis or autonomous rideshares now likely need to add a line item for a human to sanitize screens and interiors between rides (better yet-they’ll develop an automated system that doesn’t work). Companies championing electric models now must compete in a global marketplace of declining oil prices. Even if the AV sector did have products to sell, it would be a challenging business climate. It turns out that it matters, particularly when global pandemics like Covid-19 start infecting every balance sheet on the planet. Even “industry” is incorrect-most AV companies don’t yet produce goods, services, or revenue.Ībout revenue. And yet the inaccuracy of the designation is precisely why I find it so fitting, seeing as all new terms in the industry are either meaningless or inaccurate (see: “partial self-driving” and “autopilot”). The motley collection of nonfiction titles covers far more than autonomy. It should be noted that “AV books” is not only a bad name but an inaccurate one. Sure, autonomous vehicle books have flaws, but unlike much of the underlying artificial intelligence of these chimerical vehicles, the books at least improve with every update. Reading the genre these past few years has been like witnessing a coming-of-age story-the first titles, though terrific introductions, are too enfeebled by nostalgia to seriously challenge the industry in adolescence, the genre sizes up its foe the emergent third-wave witnesses a heroic, cathartic breakthrough. Sure, AV books have flaws, but unlike much of the underlying artificial intelligence of these chimerical vehicles, the books at least improve with every update. Listening to AV company founders on podcasts and at conferences will only teach you how soon they have a funding round coming up. Reading AV Twitter will only teach you to blame misleading headlines on journalists as opposed to the companies that create misleading timelines for their misleadingly named technologies. I have become obsessed with these AV books, in part because the “coverage” of the undertaking is so unappealing. They no doubt procrastinated, often severely, and still, still they beat the wunderkind roboticists of the autonomous vehicle (AV) realm to the marketplace. As massive companies like Volvo, General Motors, Tesla, and others spent the 2010s missing preposterously optimistic release dates for their driverless prototypes, writers conducted research and interviews. Book-length analysis has sped past tech-sector hype. For what feels like the first time in the twenty-first century, prose has outrun product. In the past half decade, a small publishing miracle has taken place: many books about driverless cars are available for purchase, whereas driverless cars are not. In the 1984 presidential election, he defeated former vice president Walter Mondale in another landslide victory. Additionally, he survived an assassination attempt, fought public-sector labor unions, expanded the war on drugs, and was slow to respond to the AIDS epidemic in the United States, which began early in his presidency. Reagan also ordered the invasion of Grenada in 1983. He escalated an arms race and transitioned Cold War policy away from détente with the Soviet Union. In his first term, Reagan implemented " Reaganomics", which involved economic deregulation and cuts in both taxes and government spending during a period of stagflation. After challenging and losing to incumbent president Gerald Ford in the 1976 Republican presidential primaries, Reagan won the Republican nomination and then a landslide victory over incumbent Democratic president Jimmy Carter in the 1980 United States presidential election. During his governorship, he raised taxes, turned the state budget deficit into a surplus, and cracked down harshly on university protests. He was elected governor of California in 1966. In 1964, " A Time for Choosing" gave Reagan attention as a new conservative figure. From 1959 to 1960, he again served as the Screen Actors Guild's president. During the 1950s, he worked in television and spoke for General Electric. From 1947 to 1952, Reagan served as the president of the Screen Actors Guild. In 1937, he moved to California, and became a well-known film actor there. Reagan graduated from Eureka College in 1932 and began to work as a sports broadcaster in Iowa. A member of the Republican Party, his presidency constituted the Reagan era, and he is considered one of the most prominent conservative figures in American history. But you can check out the chart below to get a sense of the Note 4’s impressive technical specifications versus those of the iPhone 6 Plus. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to test the brand-new, Android-based Samsung Galaxy Note 4, so I can’t compare the two. (You should also read Katie Boehret’s column on iOS 8, which will be released on Wednesday, and Bonnie Cha’s keyboard review here.) If you’re wavering between the larger iPhone 6 Plus and the “regular” iPhone 6 - which are both larger than earlier iPhones, and have the same powerful A8 chipset - then you’ll want to read Walt Mossberg’s full review here. The 64 gigabyte and 128GB models cost $399 and $499, respectively, and the unsubsidized prices for the phone range from $749 to $949.įor that price, most consumers would probably ask: How does it compare to the iPhone 6, how does it size up to the new Galaxy Note and how does it feel compared with a smaller smartphone that neatly fits in your pocket and palm? 19, starts at $299 with a two-year wireless contract. The iPhone 6 Plus, which opened up for preorders last week and hits stores Sept. What Apple is doing isn’t even especially innovative - “Us, too!” the company is shouting, as it chases after that flatbed truck filled with phablets - and yet, they’ve made this big phone feel fresh and desirable. That’s mostly because it’s not just a smartphone it’s a statement phone. And to people who actually prefer huge smartphones: You are going to like this phone, too. There are a couple of reasons why the Apple iPhone 6 Plus might also be too big for me to purchase. The 6.3-inch Mega seemed to suffer an identity crisis, and I wrote that it would have to be returned via flatbed truck. It’s not you, it’s me! I scribbled in a breakup letter to the Note 2, using the smartphone’s stylus pen. In each instance, I concluded that I wouldn’t buy one for myself, mostly due to size. I’ve tested giant phones before, including the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Samsung Galaxy Mega. These phones are, in fact, incredibly popular in some parts of the world. It is a novelty, because Apple has never made a smartphone this size before but it’s also not new at all, because electronics makers like Samsung and LG already offer phones this big. Apple hates the word “phablet.” So let’s call the iPhone 6 Plus what it is: A jumbo smartphone with a 5.5-inch diagonal display. But something strange happened this week. Or maybe I’m stuck in Apple’s reality-distortion field (help). Maybe I’m getting old, and my eyes are getting worse. This page was viewed 2 times on Tuesday, October 10th 2023 8:38am CDT. Can you feel the crisp breeze in the air? You know what that means – it's time to cozy up and embrace the magic of fall fashion. Today I’m sharing 8 outfits I’ve curated for autumn, all perfect to wear into the next season. I want to be sure my money is going somewhere that will last for years to come. Since many of the pieces I’m wanting to invest in are higher price points, I give myself at least 24-48 hours before making a purchase. My second suggestions is to invest in higher quality pieces, which I’ve also been thinking more about as we approach the upcoming season. Although I lean towards structured pieces in the fall, I still consider most of the textures and silhouettes to have a feminine style. My first piece of advice is to define your style in three words and I’ve been able to narrow mine to feminine, modest, and classic. This priority remains, and I’m leaning on my two tips ( shared in the blog post) as I shop for fall staples. Regardless, there’s just something magical about the colorful leaves, cooler temperatures, and of course, the fashion. I recently mentioned in a blog post that I was focusing on curating a timeless, capsule wardrobe. I’ve always thought of autumn as the very best season, likely because my birthday falls in October. Before we know it, the most beautiful time of the year will be here. This definition affirms to a disturbance in the individual's biological processes and results in some sort of biological mental disfunction. Mythomania can be defined, in accordance to the DSM-5's definition of a "mental disorder", as a continuous cognitive condition where an individual displays a pattern of purposeless, exuberant lying which leads to cognitive impairment due to stress. With this definition in mind, we can somewhat create our own definition for mythomania since there isn't a set definition. The DSM-5, or the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders", and the ICD-10, or the "International Classification of Diseases", both define the term, mental disorder, as "a syndrome characterized by clinically significant disturbance in an individual's cognition, emotion regulation, or behavior that reflects a dysfunction in the psychological, biological, or developmental processes underlying mental functioning". Since the coined term, Delbruk identified and discussed five case studies in relation to mythomania. This was so bizarre to Delbruck that he coined this behaviour as "pseudologia fantastica". Delbruck was observing a set of patients and was amazed at how some of the patients were describing fabrications in great detail. The first instance of mythomania being described is by German physician Anton Delbruck in 1891. Historically, pathological lying is nothing new to the psychological world. On the other hand, a person who has mythomania may purposelessly lie and self-incriminate themselves in doing so, making the condition even more perplexing to investigate. Usually, when one lies, they lie in order to gain an advantage or deflect from retribution in someway. Lying is a trait that many people may be accustomed too, but pathological liars are abnormal because they tell lies on a constant basis. What is the difference between the "white lie" and pathological lying? We will be reviewing pathological lying and its background in order to support the claim that pathological lying should be classified as a mental disorder. Research into pathological lying is worthwhile as mythomania can be a source of frustration and falling out between friends and family members. The absence of an official definition and classification prevents scientists from efficiently researching treatments for this condition. As a result, a concrete and official definition for mythomania isn't listed. The DSM-5, the guide for classification of mental disorders published by the American Psychiatric Association in 2013, only considers mythomania to be a symptom of anti-social personality disorder and not a mental disorder by itself. Although there are many websites and published medical articles describing pathological lying, the question remains as to whether it is a symptom of a bigger condition or a separate entity of its own. Lying is defined as intentionally telling false statements - but it isn't this easy to define pathological lying, as it continues to be a controversial and underwhelming subject to this day. Type classification: this is an essay resource.Īlthough the act of lying is common and is seen in our everyday interactions, pseudologia fantastica or mythomania, otherwise known as pathological lying, is defined as a condition (but not an official psychiatric condition) where a person continuously tells false statements for seemingly no purpose at all for a long period of time. Specifically, it is to perform JPEG decompression and RGB888 → RGB565 conversion at once (not analyzed. The source code released this time is written using general arduino and M5 Stack library calls.įor example, if you write the process performed by M5.Lcd.drawJpg () yourself, you may be able to speed up a little more. Please check how the frame rate changes depending on the video quality. In the sample program, pressing the left button allows the video quality to be switched in the order of 50%, 80%, 95%. In practice, JPEG decompression time is extended and the frame rate is reduced due to the effect of increasing the video quality. Looking at this image, you may misunderstand that increasing the video quality (even increasing the data size of one frame) does not affect the frame rate because Core1 has room. The above image is the result of measuring the processing time with an oscilloscope when the video quality is 50% (the data size of one frame is about 9KB).
